This is a blog about family and food in Belgium, written by a 30 something coffee addict. I’m obsessed with all things Agatha Christie and read every Jane Austen book at least once every two years.

As a matter of fact I re-read books I like fairly often. Yes, you may mock me for that one. But to me re-reading a book is like raking up memories with an old friend. So there. Beside I read a lot of other stuff as well.

I’m a mother of two little girls. N°1 is a feisty four year old, she is deeply in love with her bear and her main goal is to make a huge mess of things.  N°2 is a courageous two and halve year old aptly nicknamed ‘baby Napoleon’, she bosses us around like a general and has yet to meet her Waterloo (although I do my very best at playing the Duke of Wellington).

I married my high school sweetheart (you may all go ‘awwww’ here). He is a lawyer and thus speaks many foreign languages, such as contract law and labor law, etc. Sometimes he tries to teach them to me, but I just can’t master the vocabulary. There are days when I want nothing more than to boil him in oil, but overall I love him.

True to the first bloggy – commandment ‘Thou shalt blog about thy passion’ this blog will mainly be a food blog. I love to cook and – unfortunately for my behind and waist – to eat. Since I am Belgian chocolate will make a regular appearance. The recipes I make will be the one I make for my family and friends. If you want tips and tricks on how to make fancy things such as ‘foam of foi gras’ or ‘a reduction of beet root with celery bubbles’ this is not the place for you, sorry. Also I eat nearly everything, which means that yes at some point I will probably blog about eating liver, kidney, horse steak or even rabbit. You are forewarned.

You may feel free to use my recipes. Should you blog or write about them even better, but please indicate where you got them. Stealing is a crime and there is something called ‘intellectual ownership’ (or something like that, *note to self: ask husband*). 

Since I work full time this blog will not be updated daily.  I apologize in advance. I’m a native Dutch speaker but will blog in English since that is THE internet language.

    Terug thuis en heb eens goed je blog bekeken. Prachtig werk en zeer behoorlijk Engels. Het recept voor de roast beef is perfect weergegeven en de beschrijving brengt me het water in de mond. Hopelijk heb je veel mensen kunnen overtuigen het eens te proberen.
